Equipment rental company KDM Hire has opened a new £1.3 million (€1.49 million) depot near Belfast in Northern Ireland.
Located in Castlereagh, the new facility will offer tool and equipment rental services to both commercial and private customers in the Belfast, Lisburn and Country Down areas.
It will offer a range powered access, temporary welfare accommodation, power generation, material handling and general equipment for use in the construction, industrial and DIY sectors. County Tyrone-based KDM said its depot in Castlereagh would also provide customers with specialist products and support services.
KDM said its investment in the new depot is part of an £11 million (€12.6 million) expansion programme. The ongoing programme, which has also seen the company acquire a 3-acre (12,100m2) green field site in Blanchardstown near Dublin, aims to expand KDM’s customer base and help it maintain a strong position in the local rental market.
A spokesperson for the company said, “This is an exciting time for KDM hire, coming out of a tough year brought on by the pandemic. This new depot provides us with a platform to reach new customers while offering existing customers an improved local service when working in the East of the province”
“We believe this state-of-the-art depot sets a new standard for tool & compact equipment hire in the UK. It is also a deviation from our existing operations which are all based on large hub-type facilities covering sites from 2 to 6 acres.”
The company, which already has depots in Mallusk and Dublin and a cabin hire yard in County Tyrone, said its expansion programme would also see it increase its number of employees from 155 to 180 people.
