New depot for Nixon Hire

UK rental company Nixon Hire has unveiled plans to expand its renewables division with the opening of a new depot in Wolverhampton.

The company, which announced its plans at its innovation day earlier this month, said the depot will open in the next two to three months and will serve as a “champion” for its renewables division, which launched in 2019.
Speaking to International Rental News (IRN), Nick Hibbard, head of renewables, said the decision to acquire the depot comes as the company continues to see “significant demand” for clean energy products.
Hibbard said, “Even small builders are investing in the units because carbon saving is huge, but the fuel benefits and savings compared to hiring a standard diesel generator is astronomical and outweighs the hire cost of the unit.
“The demand is starting from the top but it is starting to filter through.”
The company also displayed several recent additions to its renewables range at the innovation day, including the EHR battery power generator from Himoinsa, EcoSmart Max welfare unit from AJC EasyCabin and its Solar Smart Site, which is used to power temporary office units, canteens, meeting rooms, drying rooms, and toilet units.
The Solar Smart Site, which the company describes as a “plug and play” product, was trialled last year through its customer JN Bentley and incorporates Solar Pods, Solar Smart Frames, Battery Storage Units (BSUs) and Erica smart distribution boards.
Since launching its renewables division in 2019, Nixon Hire has continued to invest in its fleet of renewable products. The company has also accelerated its growth plans following inward investment from Pricoa Private Capital in 2021.
