Gordon McGruer’s Kardon Kontracts has become the first European company to take delivery of JLG’s massive new 1850SJ Ultraboom.

Kardon, which was the first company outside North America to order the new lift, said the 1850SJ was already rented out on a hanger refurbishment project. The machine is the first of four that Kardon has ordered.

The UK-based rental company, founded and owned by Gordon McGruer, aims to offer the 185 ft machines on a re-rental basis throughout Europe and well as on its own rental contracts.

Kardon is one of a number of European companies to have ordered the JLG machines, with Netherlands-based Riwal confirming a deal for six of the 1850s at the APEX exhibition in June.

Mr McGruer is among the speakers at the upcoming Europlatform conference in Cologne, Germany on 25 September. Mr McGruer will discuss ownership models for the new range of super booms being manufactured by JLG and Genie, including the 1850SJ.
