Yardz, the US-based equipment management IT platform and company, has expanded into the agricultural market, having secured its first client in the sector.

Specialist turfgrass producer Modern Turf, which is headquartered in South Carolina, grows and installs a wide selection of grass varieties for the golf, sports and landscape industries, and provides a range of lawn care services.

It chose to invest in the Yardz platform as its fleet of agricultural tractors and construction machines - both modern and older - had almost no telematics systems, which made maintenance and servicing difficult to manage.

Jason Perez, CEO of Yardz, “We’ve got clients in so many different vertical markets, and Modern Turf represents our first agricultural customer.

“We began as a company that primarily served the construction industry. However, with the addition of Modern Turf to our client roster, we’ve proven once again that companies in any industry that have assets to manage, inspect, track, or allocate can use Yardz to save time, money, and internal resources.”

As well as tracking the maintenance schedules of its equipment, Modern Turf is using Yardz to assign tasks and inspections to technicians and vendors, track costs, store documents and photographs, and to carry out inspections via phones and on other smart devices.

Commenting on the performance of the platform, Modern Turf’s Operations Manager, Todd Partridge, said, “There’s no question that our maintenance and inspections processes are more accurate and more timely, not to mention that they run more smoothly.

“But just as important, Yardz has provided us a tool that is simple-to-use with limited training – an important consideration since our workforce is not overly tech savvy.”
