WillScot expands modular building division

WillScot Mobile Mini has announced the acquisitions of US-based Hallwood Modular Buildings and Canada-based BRT Structures. No financial details of the deals have been revealed.

Headquartered in Texas, Hallwood was acquired by Hallwood Financial Limited in 2011 and has since expanded its leasing fleet of blast-resistant buildings.

Founded in 2010, BRT Structures also specialise in blast resistant modular structures and provides design, engineering, manufacturing, delivery and maintenance of its buildings. WillScot says the purchases will enable it to expand its specialty modular fleet and ensures it is a “clear leader in blast resistant module fleet across North America.”

Tim Boswell, president and chief financial officer, WillScot Mobile Mini, said, “As we execute our growth strategy, expanding our offering of blast resistant modules aligns perfectly with our customer value proposition, whereby we help our customers be safe, comfortable, and productive in their work environments.

“Blast resistant modules enable safe growth and development for key sectors of the economy, such as manufacturing, petrochemicals, and defense, where workers can be exposed to potentially hazardous environments. They bring substantial productivity benefits by allowing employees to work safely and in closer proximity to critical infrastructure, while avoiding transit time in and out of blast zones.

“When combined with our existing fleet of modular space and storage solutions, WillScot Mobile Mini is the most sophisticated and comprehensive supplier of turnkey space solutions for industries that demand the highest standards for safety, service, and reliability. We welcome the Hallwood and BRT teams and the unique expertise they bring to WillScot Mobile Mini.”

Gert Lessing, president former president of Hallwood Modular Buildings, said, “We are extremely pleased to complete the sale to WillScot Mobile Mini, already a leading provider of modular space and portable storage solutions in the United States, Canada and Mexico. We wish them continued success in building the best fleet of blast-resistant buildings in the industry.”
