Star Power expands with partnership

UK temporary power rental company Powertek Services has changed its name to Star Power Generator Hire and will expand nationally through a partnership with sister company Star Platforms.

The Bristol-based company, which provides power equipment, site set-up and emergency power to construction, television, utilities and events customers, said the move will enable it to roll out its services via Star Platform’s network of depots.

Paul Ridley, Star Power’s Head of Power, said the business will extend its reach across the UK; “By having our teams and equipment located at seven depots across the UK, we can respond even more rapidly to customer needs, at a time when temporary power solutions are more important than ever.”

The rebranding, which has also seen the launch of the new Star Power website, comes just six months after the company established its second depot in the UK.

That depot, in Tonbridge, Kent, opened in June 2022 and was shared by Star Platforms. The latter was established in 2014 and provides powered access rental, sales and training.

According to Star Power, its decision to rebrand and more closely link its operations with the access specialist will create “new opportunities for both highly successful brands”.

Matt Paul, who established Powertek 20 years ago and is now the director of Star Power’s Bristol operations, said, “With the current energy supply risks, and rapid market changes as we switch to more sustainable energy sources, the need for reliable temporary power solutions is greater than ever before, and Star Power will be there to meet those needs.”

As well as rolling out its current services across the country, Star Power also has plans to increase its product offering.

The company is soon to introduce additional equipment and services, including water bowsers, fuel bowsers, lighting systems, cabling, plus green energy solutions, such as solar power and light packs, and hybrid generators.

The expanded offering will be made available in stages through 2023, and available from Star Power’s main Bristol depot and Star Platform’s depots in Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Berkshire, Suffolk, Somerset and Cheshire, as well the companies’ shared facility in Kent.
