Equipment rental company expands specialist hire services in the south west of the UK

Speedy's new Swindon depot in the UK Speedy's new depot aims to capitalise on planned housing and highway developments in the surrounding region

Construction equipment rental company Speedy has launched its new Regional Service Centre in the south west of the UK.

The 800m2 (8,500sq ft) centre in the town of Swindon will allow the company to expand its specialist construction hire services in the region, and to offer its range of lifting equipment to local customers for the first time.

Speedy said the regional depot was opened partly in response to planned developments in the region. According to the rental firm, plans for around 8,000 homes and two high rise developments have been lodged with local planning authorities.

Dylan Owen, Regional Director for the South West at Speedy, said, “Our investment in Swindon comes as a number of major schemes edge closer to breaking ground and local contractors are gearing up to develop the local housing, infrastructure and commercial space as the area builds for the future.

Speedy said that landmark office accommodation and highway improvements across Swindon are also expected to “buoy the local construction market”. Its new depot aims to provide building firms and contractors with access to over 350 of its products, with both its four-hour delivery promise and click-and-collect service.

The company’s green and eco-friendly products will also be available as part of the four-hour delivery service, alongside its selection of rechargeable cordless tools.

Speedy’s investment in the Swindon depot is part of a nationwide effort to enhance and standardise the company’s depot network, which currently comprises 200 sites across the UK and Ireland.
