The 8.0Ah model offers 288 watt-hours of energy and is designed to offer less downtime and improved performance when use for heavy-duty applications or with “higher drain XGT machines”.

The BLF4080F is equipped with 20 cells that provide a higher power output, and feature a durable, heavy-duty outer cell casing for improved impact resistance.

The BL4080F, which is IPX4 rated, also has a water and dust-resistant triple layer structure designed to withstand to tough site conditions.

Kevin Brannigan, Marketing Manager at Makita, said, “We are very excited to be releasing this product as our largest capacity battery to date.

“Offering the longest runtime for our XGT products, this product will considerably improve productivity on site, as users won’t need to down tools to recharge batteries as often.”

The BLF4080F battery incorporates real-time digital technology that allows communication between the tool, battery and the charger, to optimise recharging process and reduce charge times.

According to Makita, the technology also protects the battery by actively monitoring heat, overload, and over-discharge, and enables it deliver longer sustained power during demanding applications.

Brannigan added, “Furthermore, despite its capacity, the battery can be charged in just over an hour – at approximately 76-minutes when using the DC40RA charger, which makes it stand out in the market.”
