Lomond on JCB shopping spree

Scottish rental firm Lomond Plant Hire has taken delivery of more than 100 new JCB units as part of a major investment in its fleet.

Falkirk-based Lomond Plant Hire is already a JCB user, with JCB backhoe loaders and Loadall telescopic handlers in its fleet. The firm has now added 78 JCB tracked and wheeled excavators, including JCB 8014, 8025, 8045 and 8085 compact excavators, JS130 and JS220 tracked excavators and JS160W wheeled excavators, along with a JCB Loadall 535-125 and 30 JCB 3CX backhoe loaders.

The fleet additions have already been put out to hire, working on a series of government and civil engineering contracts. The latest sees the new JS160W wheeled excavator and 3CX backhoe loader models in action at a waste water treatment plant in central Scotland on the banks of the River Forth.

Lomond Plant Hire celebrates its 25^th anniversary in 2013. According to managing director, Ross Easton, this landmark year will see further fleet expansion. “A successful year has seen the expansion of our fleet as demonstrated by this significant order. 2013 marks our 25^th year in business and will see even further investment and diversification in our plant and equipment,” he said.

The family-owned business now operates a fleet of more than 120 excavators, forward tipping dumpers and telescopic handlers.
