LGMG has entered the industrial forklift sector with a range of electric and diesel powered units for the domestic Chinese and export markets, including a diesel rough terrain model.

The range, in development since last year and unveiled to its global dealers in September, are being shown at the APEX Asia exhibition in Shanghai, with the company’s aerial platforms on a separate stand within the show.

Around 200,000 forklifts are sold in China alone each year, so it is a big potential market for the company, and a diversification of the business beyond its main mining machines and aerial work platforms.

A spokesperson for the company told IRN that the target was to produce 50,000 units annually within five years.

The new models include the export-oriented X Series, comprising seven models with lift capacities of between 2t and 3.5t, all with Lithium Ion batteries. These machines could be available in Europe next year.

Also for export is the F25, a diesel powered rough terrain model, with 2.5t lifting capacity and powered by a Stage V 36kW diesel engine. It weighs 4350kg and features a hydrostatic transmission. This model is already CE marked and available in Europe and Australia.

For the domestic market there is a wide range of 3- and 4-wheeled electric counterbalanced trucks with capacities from 1.6t to 5.0t capacity.

All the forklifts, as well as a selection of electric pallet trucks, stackers and reach trucks, are made at LGMG’s factories in Shandong, China.
