27 January 2009

About 100 workers will be laid off from JLG Industries, totaling 1500 lay offs since July 2008, the company announced Tuesday. According to Kirsten Skyba, JLG's vice president of global marketing, white-collar workers will be affected by the layoffs, which scale down JLG's worldwide workfroce to about 3000.

According to reports, JLG will require its North American non-production workers to take one week of unpaid leave before the end of March in order to curb further layoffs. No word has been announced on how many employees will be affected at JLG's McConnellsburg and Shippensburg, PA facilities.

The layoffs are in response to a decline in demand, the company said.
