UK rental company Hewden has been awarded gold in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards for the fourth year in a row, making it the first plant rental company to achieve this record.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards look at accident records and health and safety management systems, including practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.

According to Mark Albiston, operations director at Hewden, the firm is focussing on safety issues, both for its workforce and the customers who use its products.

"We are putting a lot of emphasis on creating a culture within the business, at the heart of which is our health and safety values. Over the past two months we have engaged with over 150 colleagues from across the company to set and embed standards for the business moving forward. The feedback has been excellent," he said

The awards ceremony will take place May 15 to 17 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
