ERA revamps its structure and launches new committees

Following a strategic review, the European Rental Association (ERA) Board of Directors has approved a refreshed structure, creating new working bodies aligned with ERA’s new three-year strategic plan. The plan is built around four pillars: Sustainability, People, Technology, and the promotion of rental.

People Committee

ERA has established a new People Committee, bringing together HR specialists from rental companies to focus on attracting talent, retaining and training employees, and supporting a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

These topics were previously covered under the Future group; the new committee creates a dedicated forum for HR experts to share best practice and develop practical industry initiatives, including potential people KPI benchmarking.

Theft Working Group

Building on the Technical Committee’s Theft and Vandalism Prevention Guide, ERA will form a dedicated Theft Working Group focused on strengthening European cooperation for the recovery of stolen equipment, supporting better cross-border coordination and information-sharing.

Transformation Working Group

The Transformation Working Group will steer ERA’s work on the major transitions shaping the rental industry.

The group brings together forward‑thinking rental professionals from across the industry, combining experience, innovation, and fresh perspectives. Unlike the former Future Group, participation is no longer age‑restricted: the focus is firmly on mindset, openness to change, and the ability to anticipate and shape the future of rental.

At the same time, the Working Group actively welcomes very young, high‑potential professionals to ensure a fresh and challenging outlook on emerging trends and long‑term industry evolution. Dedicated exchanges may be organised for this younger community, who will also be fully integrated into the broader Transformation Working Group.

The existing Cybersecurity Working Group will continue as a dedicated expert forum and will report into the Transformation Working Group, contributing on an as‑needed basis.

Participation in the Transformation Working Group is open to motivated and forward‑looking volunteers from rental companies who wish to actively contribute to shaping the future of the industry.”

New product-specific verticals

To better reflect specialised rental needs, ERA is launching its first product-focused groups, starting with:

• Modular construction and portable sanitation
• Access equipment
• Energy

Each vertical will set its own work programme and priorities once formed, with participation expected across rental companies and manufacturing.
