Spanish concrete vibrator and powered screed manufacturer Enerco is investing in a new multi-million Euro production facility in La Muela, 25 km from its current base in Zaragoza. The company expects to move into the facility early in 2009.

The factory will increase the company's production space from 5000 m2 to up to 8000 m2, and reflects the average 20-25% annual growth the company has experienced for the past five years. Sales revenues in 2007 were €20.5 million.

Enarco's investment in the facility comes at a very difficult time for the Spanish construction market, acknowledged marketing manager Daniel Zaldivar, but he said Enarco's increased exports - accounting for 65-70% of total sales last year - were helping to insulate it from the "dead" Spanish market.

"30-35% of our sales last year [were in Spain]", said Mr Zaldivar, "and we grew our exports. Again this year we will grow exports, but not so much." Enerco has switched some of its sales efforts to South America, where it had had a Mexican subsidiary for 9 years, and has also been increasing sales to eastern Europe, particularly Russia, and also Poland, where it has a subsidiary.

The company, which was founded in 1964 by the Casals family who are still among the shareholders, produces three ranges of equipment, with concrete vibrators and powered concrete screeds being the two most important. It also sells a small range of tampers and plate compactors, some of which are badged units manufactured by other suppliers.

Mr Zaldivar tells IRN that the company will have some new electric screeds to introduce at the Intermat show next year and a new, small plate campactor is also under development.
