German roadbuilding equipment manufacturer Bomag has launched three highway pavers featuring its myCockpit operating system and new screeds.
The BF 700 C-5 and BF 700 P-5 are tracked and wheeled models respectively, with a maximum paving output of 700 tonnes per hour. The larger BF 800 C-5 is available at launch as a tracked machine and has a maximum output of 800 tonnes per hour.
Alongside the pavers, Bomag has introduced the S 500-5 TV and S 600-5 TV screeds, which offer paving widths of up to nine and 10 metres respectively. The manufacturer said the screeds are 20% more rigid and 15% lighter than their predecessors while maintaining the same surface pressure.
The myCockpit system allows operators to customise the information shown on the main control station’s 10-inch display and the screed control panel’s seven-inch display. Both show key paving parameters, including screed width, crown profile, cross slope, auger position and tow arm height.

Operators can also assign functions to five buttons on the side-mounted control panel and two on the driver’s joystick to streamline operations.
The machines feature Bomag’s A-Pave Smartpave assistance system, which coordinates scraper belt and auger speeds, screed temperature, and tamper and vibration frequencies once the operator selects the paving layer.
Other assistance functions include A-Pave Start, which can automatically relieve and lock the screed during start-up or interruptions before returning it to its floating position. A-Pave Set+ returns the machine to its transport or working position at the push of a button.
Paving width and height, cross slope and steering can be automated, while automatic crown profile control is available as an option. A bidirectional Joblink Pro interface supports the integration of external levelling systems.
For visibility, the driver’s seat rotates, slides sideways and swings out to the side of the machine. Screed operators can use finger joysticks to adjust the screed while watching its edge, or operate it remotely from outside the machine.
