Compaction equipment specialist Ammann has updated two of its heavy tandem roller models, with the incorporation of new Stage V-compliant engines for the European market.

The Ammann ARX 90 StV and ARX 110 StV articulated rollers, which are two of Ammann’s six heavy tandem models, now feature the 4-litre TCD3.6 engine from Duetz.

Unlike their predecessor models, this means that both machines’ engines now benefit from “the most technologically advanced after-treatment system”.

According to Deutz, the after-treatment structure uses varied to systems reduce the amount of NOx and other pollutants produced by the equipment.

With operating weights of 9.9 and 10.5 tonnes respectively, the ARX 90 and ARX 110 can be used to compact asphalt bases, binders and wearing courses, as well as sub-base and base compaction for aggregates.

They offer a drum width of 1690mm, a maximum offset working mode of 1850mm, and the articulated steering incorporates both oscillation and a mechanism that enables work in crab mode up to 17cm (6,7 in) on both sides.

Described as “telematics ready” by the Switzerland-based manufacturer, the ARX 90 and ARX 110 can both be installed with Ammann’s ServiceLink telematics system.

The two updated machines, which are part of the manufacturer’s ARX equipment series, are the latest models to undergo a Stage V update.

In May of last year Ammann rolled out new versions of its light ARX tandem rollers, with the double drum product line - including the ARX 12-2, ARX 16-2, ARX 20-2 and the ARX 16-2C models - relaunched to cater the European market.
