Thompson Pump has supplied 100 pumps for the Gulf of Mexico clean up operation.

Thompson Pump has supplied as many as 100 pumps and associated equipment for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The company reports that within days of the incident on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, Thompson mobilized its Emergency Response Team (ERT) to provide pumping equipment, supplies, manpower and "a wealth of tactical knowledge" to areas devastated by the spill.

Thompson has supplied as many as 100 pumps as well as hoses and specialised skimming devices to facilitate oil containment, recovery and transfer. The equipment is being used in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Staff are skimming in deep and shallow waters throughout the Gulf as well as in rivers and streams in the bayous and marshes in order to help minimise the impact.

Bill Thompson, president of Thompson Pump said the challenge was significant and extensive; "We are allocating enormous resources to attack this problem with the intention of enabling the citizens in the affected areas to resume their normal lives as quickly as possible."

Thompson Pump is working with contractors who are tasked with various areas of clean-up responsibilities.
