Sunbelt Rentals UK has acquired the rental business and assets of Hybrid Power Hire (HPH), a specialist in low emission temporary power units.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, was finalised this past April and is part of Sunbelt’s drive to provide more environmentally friendly batteries and other power equipment.

The addition of HPH’s 20kva to 60kva battery storage units will increase the size of Sunbelt’s battery rental fleet to over 750 units, and enable the company to meet the rising demand for clean energy products.

Andy Wright, CEO of Sunbelt Rentals said, “Over the last 12 months we have invested over £100 million into new greener rental products and services. This has included Stage V plant and machinery, battery and solar lighting, battery tools, and electric plant and machinery.

“This acquisition represents the next stage of our journey to be the rental supplier of choice for clean energy products, solutions, and services to our customers.

Also described as an “exciting step” towards achieving a 35% carbon intensity reduction by 2030, the acquisition is in line with the environmental strategy of the wider Sunbelt group.

Wright said, “As a business we are committed to reducing our carbon intensity by 35% by 2030 and through our ‘Our Planet’ strategy we aim to leave a legacy for future generations. This is demonstrated in the work we are doing to reduce our carbon impact and reinvest in the environment and communities where we work.

“Importantly for our customers, in addition to renting the most effective solutions, we can now also provide them cutting edge data, technology, and information that will allow them to see and appreciate the changes made by renting a greener solution from both a fuel, emissions, and cost perspective.”
