16th ERA Convention brings European rental industry together again

The European equipment rental industry came together again at the 16th annual ERA Convention in Riga on 15 and 16 June, with over 340 people from 26 countries learning, exchanging, networking and celebrating success in the industry.

Over the course of the 2 days, professionally moderated by Dutch journalist Maarten Bouwhuis, the attendees focused on ‘Rental in Transition’, with presentations on ‎energies of the ‎future, the European Green Deal and the role of the equipment rental industry in ‎the green ‎transition‎.

Pierre Boels, outgoing President of the ERA, welcomed delegates to the 2022 Convention in Riga.

The workshops on the second day enabled the participants to exchange views on the green and digital transition affecting the rental industry, before the Convention closed with a dynamic and inspiring presentation – ‘Samsø - a circular economy community!’ – from Søren Hermansen, Director of the Samsø Energy Academy.

He explained how Samsø, a Danish island of 3,800 inhabitants, succeeded in becoming 100% self-sufficient through renewable energy and discussed the importance of communities and social sustainability.
