Italian equipment specialist Comet Officine has launched a new range of van mounted aerial platforms, that initially comprises 11, 13 and 15-metre models.

The company is debuting the largest of the three platforms at the Vertikal Days exhibition, currently taking place in Peterborough, in the UK.

The HVM 15 aerial platform on show is mounted on a 3.5-tonne Ford Transit GWV van and features an outreach of 8m.

Featuring a hydraulic jib, telescopic boom and 360 degrees of rotation, Comet says this type of boom configuration “allows easy operation to get the operator safely to their point of work”.

Standout features of the new product range include stabiliser controls, which are “operated from inside the cab with illuminated switches to let the operator know if the jacks are stowed or set for work then changed over to platform operation once stabiliser set lights are on,” said Comet.

In addition, operators can also access the cage from the rear step. The manufacturer says this makes is safer when accessing the van for parts to transfer to the basket.

The new aerial platform range was developed in partnership with Comet’s UK partner company Mister Rick Wood/ Hydraulic Platform Services, which is responsible for the installation of the Italian-made platforms on vehicles.

“A new plant in Bredbury, Stockport has been set up for the assembly of the various equipment on the most popular commercial vehicles such vans with traditional engines or batteries,” says Comet.

Visitors to the Vertikal Days exhibition will be able to see the HVM 15 aerial platform on display at the stand of Mister Rick Wood/ Hydraulic Platform Services.
