MEC Aerial Work Platforms has launched its first all-electric vertical mast lift

Drawing on the US-based manufacturer’s MEC Mast Electric (MME) series, company engineers developed the 100% electric MMAE16.

The new mast lift is compact and designed to eliminates the risk of an oil leak, due to zero hydraulic oil. With all-electric lift, steer, and drive, the MMAE16 still delivers an optimum battery duty cycle, says the company, while requiring less charge time.

At an indoor working height of 22ft and 18ft outdoors, the unit is ideal for data centres, hospitality, food and pharmaceutical applications, said MEC. Along with being lightweight at 2,170 pounds and offering low ground pressure, the machine fits in standard elevators and can work across a range of floor types. At 78in tall and with no folding rails, it is also manoeverable through standard door frames. Like the MME Series, the new mast comes with a standard glide out deck extension of 20in.

Gary Crook, VP of Engineering at MEC, said, along with the 100% electric power, eliminating hydraulic leaks was a key reason for the product’s design. “The MMAE16 will have a significant impact on the market’s drive for lower emissions and eco-friendly solutions. Along with being all-electric the new mast will deliver a better cost of ownership for rental companies and increased productivity for their customers,” said MEC.
