The European Rental Association (ERA) releases 2025 Market Report

14 October 2025

The European Rental Association (ERA) has published its 2025 Market Report.

Overall, the expected rebound in the European Rental Market did not materialise in 2025 with the desired intensity. The general uncertainty across Europe, along with political instability in certain countries — such as France, Germany, and Belgium — has not created the conditions necessary for the release of the expected public funds. Furthermore, general uncertainty slowed private financing and the recovery of the building segment.

Nevertheless, in most countries, the market was slightly more favourable in 2025 than it had been in 2024 (excluding the UK, France and Belgium).

The ERA Market report shows that the European equipment rental market experienced growth of 1.3% in 2024, with a total rental turnover of €33.5bn in the 17 countries covered by the report.

The rental market is expected to show a slower performance in 2025, with growth reaching 1.0%, with a rental turnover of EUR 33.9bn. The UK, Germany and France remain the largest rental markets in Europe, now accounting for almost 60% of the total market size.
