Selwood buys Glo Hire
25 July 2008
Glo employs 25 people has rents a wide range of plant, powered access and small tools, although not pumps, which is one of Selwood's strengths. Glo's co-owners, Neon Lane and Rob Branagan, will stay with Selwood and will have particular responsibility to develop the plant and aerial platform rental business in the south east.
Selwood Group managing director, Chris Garrett, said. "This acquisition further strengthens our position in the south east and helps consolidate our position as a leading national plant company. We intend to invest in the operation to ensure its continued success.
"On the back of a record year in 2007 we were keen to further develop our business and with a limited amount of re-organisation within both Selwood and Glo, the acquisition will not only strengthen our position in the marketplace, but also allow us to offer a wider range of products and an even greater level of service to both our existing and Glo's customer base."
Over 60 years old, Selwood is one of the largest privately owned plant hire companies in the UK, with sales in 2007 of £49 million, up 14% over 2006. The company has a rental fleet of over 12000 items of non-operated equipment - including a large pump fleet - and over the last two years has invested over £20 million in new equipment.
