Onsite expands in Queensland with Q-Air deal

By Murray Pollok21 March 2012

Australia's Onsite Rental Group has acquired compressor rental and sales company Q-Air in Queensland.

Q-Air has a depot in Gladstone, Queensland and Onsite said the acquisition would increase the services it can offer customers and open up opportunities in the "fast growing" Surat and Bowen Basin regions.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed price, follows the opening of a branch in Emerald in February and brings to eight the total number of Onsite locations in the state of Queensland.

Onsite said it hoped to capitalise on opportunities in the Surat to Gladstone Corridor, where projects valued at more than A$83 billion are forecast. A development scheme involves the construction of a new railway to transport coal from new mines in the Surat Basin to the port of Gladstone.

Mark Rich, Onsite Rental Group's chief executive officer, said the Q-Air acquisition was an important part of "our national expansion strategy and positions us strongly for growth in Queensland, with a particular focus on supporting customers in the state's thriving mining and resources sectors and the industries that support them.

"We now have a very significant investment profile in place to support our growth in Queensland on top of considerable CapEx already employed in the state."
