New Negri wood chipper features Vanguard’s Big Block engine

Negri is an Italian company which specializes in production of wood shredders, chippers and other maintenance equipment for garden professionals, rental companies and municipalities.

The company has now introduced its new C17LT Road Trailer wood chipper which features the 29.9 kW 1.0-liter EFI/ETC V-Twin Big Block gasoline/petrol engine delivered by Vanguard, Briggs & Stratton’s commercial power brand.

The engine was selected for two primary reasons. First, it has the power to drive the wood chipper disc at a constant speed when processing dense hardwood and fibrous material.

Second, the engine is light enough to keep the trailer chipper under a total weight of 750 kg.

The V-Twin Big Block is a 40 hp engine with a horizontal shaft design. This supports processing of branches and tree limbs up to 170 mm in diameter. This delivers a total throughput of approximately 7.5 tonnes per hour, positioning the C17LT as one of the most powerful chippers in its class.

Together with the new engine, the C17LT offers Negri’s OBS, a system which supports machine diagnostics and maintenance together with operator information.

“The C17LT, the Vanguard 40 HP V-Twin Big Block engine, with EFI and ETC technology, provides a practical alternative to diesel-powered solutions, reducing fuel consumption, lowering emissions and helping to minimise total cost of ownership,” said Daniele Mauri, sales executive for Southern Europe at Briggs & Stratton.
