LoxamHune, the Spain and Portugal based subsidiary of European rental company Loxam, reported EBITDA profits of more than €40.6 million in 2021 in its equipment rental operations, bolstering its plans for a greener fleet and digital transformation.

LoxamHune CEO Luis Ángel Salas.

The company - which specialises in construction machinery and lifting platforms - achieved €110 million of turnover in 2021, almost equal to pre-pandemic levels of €111 million in 2019.

Loxam Group as a whole closed the year with a turnover of more than €2.1 billion.

Commenting on LoxamHune’s results and outlook during its annual convention, CEO Luis Ángel Salas said the company expects to achieve 11% growth in sales in 2022 to reach €122 million.

It would maintain its ongoing focus on digitalisation, CSR – reducing accidents and CO2 levels – and profitable growth, he said.

Plans for 2022 include an investment of more than €50 million in new machines. It aims to have 40% of its fleet composed of low-emission equipment this year.

Since the end of 2020 the company has been carbon neutral, through offsetting initiatives.

It will also launch an e-commerce platform in 2022, is opening four new branches, and will re-open some branches.

Plans also include the opening of small machinery stores, both its own and those of its partners - France based home improvement specialist Leroy Merlin and German pan-European home improvement business Bauhaus.

As part of digital transformation, LoxamHune recently rolled out business management software Microsoft Dynamics 365 across areas including machinery rental, operator training and the maintenance of third-party equipment fleets.

Despite the Covid-19 crisis, the company increased its workforce by 17 in 2021, reaching 671 employees, Salas confirmed.
