Kiloutou trials electric tipper truck

By Murray Pollok23 October 2022

Kiloutou is trialling an electric dumper/delivery truck developed by electric vehicle supplier Ellectramobilys.

The France-based rental company said that small trucks used to carry building materials, equipment or waste were among the highest emitters of CO2 and was looking for an alternative solution.

The Muses vehicle from Ellectramobilys has a range of up to 260 km, depending on the battery pack used, and a payload of 670 kg.

Kiloutou said among the advantages of the vehicle were a low loading height and the ability to tip in three directions: either side and to the rear.

Kiloutou added that the Muses was ideal because it uses 40% less material than competing electric vehicles, including half as much lithium, cobalt and manganese in its battery. Its energy consumption in use is also half as much as other electric utility vehicles, said the rental company.

The vehicle is being assembled in France and will be in full production in 2023.

Audrey Miclard, Sustainable Development Director of Kiloutou, said; “Our acceleration in R&D is based in particular on the development of close collaborations with new committed players such as Ellectramobilys, whose promising solutions can be tested within our Test Center.

“Among the many assets of Muses, there is the possibility of replacing an empty battery with a charged battery in less than 3 minutes. This promotes long, less energy-consuming and protective recharging of the batteries, without interrupting the use of the equipment. These simplifications of use are key points of our ambitions in terms of R&D. We innovate at the service of our customers and for a sustainable materials sector.”

Damien Biro, President of Muses Europe, said; “We are delighted to be able to co-develop this solution with a player like Kiloutou, also committed to the environment and with a solid network.”

The vehicle would be suitable for major contractors, trades, public authorities or private individuals moving and loading equipment and light materials in urban areas.
