“The future of soil compaction”, says Wacker of its DPU 130 vibratory plate, shown here in prototype at Bauma. Powered by a 25 kW Lombardini engine, it generates 130 kN of compacting force, 30% more than the most powerful plate currently available, says the German company, and allowing substitution for rollers up to 8 t. Key to its design is two base plates, driven by separate, fully hydraulic exciters and providing high-torque manoeuvrability. The device, available in 2008, includes Wacker's infrared remote controller.
