Instagrid highlights rental applications for portable batteries
14 October 2026
Instagrid said its 2.1kWh capacity GO portable battery has powered a Carbon8 T3 mobile lighting tower for six hours, giving 10 hours in total when added to the four-hour capacity of the tower’s own battery. The T3 tower illuminates an area 980m2 at 11 lux.
Instagrid said its GO portable battery power unit will work with any corded 110V light that has a compatible power input and output rating. In 230V markets in Europe, the Instagrid ONE would be the equivalent unit.
The power specialist said the lighting tower is an example of equipment that can be powered by its batteries. Contractor Balfour Beatty used an Instagrid GO on a bridge project in the UK to power a submersible pump for a full working day alongside power tools, breakers and water monitoring stations.

Darren Brelsford, works manager at Balfour Beatty, said: “Instagrid’s portable battery-based power pack provides a viable alternative to small, portable generators, eliminating a reliance on fossil fuels and plant nappies, whilst providing a silent and emission-free solution to smaller power loads.”
Matt Silvester, national business development manager at Instagrid UK said: “By investing in regular testing, we are able to support our rental partners in delivering the reliable power needed to ensure safer, cleaner sites.
“The versatility of the Instagrid GO means customers can extend the runtime of essential tools such as lighting, whatever the weather on UK sites in winter.”
