Spanish genset and lighting tower manufacturer Himoinsa said the addition of two metal forming tools has doubled production capacity at its production facility in San Javier, Murcie.

The new punching machine and a panel machine have increased the automation of its metal treatment and forming line, speeding up production.

The punching machine performs plate drilling jobs on chassis components and can automatically load and unload metal plates. The panel machine increases precision in the metal forming process and reduces assembly times, said the company.

The investment in production technology - which included the acquisition of two laser cutters at the beginning of the year - is part of a "renewal and development plan" being carried out by the company.

The investment has also required the recruitment of highly trained staff. "The use of state-of-the-art technology within the production process means it is absolutely essential for us to have personnel trained and qualified in the areas of engineering, computer science and digital control", said Carlos Ibáñez, head of operations at Himoinsa.

Himoinsa was founded in 1982 and produces a wide range of generators as well as lighting towers. In addition to its Spanish facility it has production plants in the US, France (Genelec), India and China.
