Hamm expands its electric compaction range
30 July 2025

Hamm has introduced two fully electric pivot-steered tandem rollers. The HX 70e VV-S has two vibration drums and the HX 70e VO-S variant comes with an oscillation drum.
The machines, which were debuted at the Bauma show earlier this year, are initially being put into operation on inner-city construction sites in Europe.
The HX 70e has a 400 V Li-ion battery from Kreisel with a capacity of 63 kWh, and is charged via a Type 2 connector. Other charging options such as Type 1, J1772 and CCS will also be available.
Hamm said that with the fast charge option, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than one hour.
The new models are the first electric machines available in Hamm’s HX range of pivot steered models. They join’s Hamm’s battery powered HD compact tandem rollers, including the HD 10e and HD 12e.
Hamm said the rollers deliver the same compaction power as the diesel-powered versions and actually produce a higher output at their peak.
It added that the new HX machines are not only quieter but also more efficient than their diesel-driven counterparts. This is particularly the case of the oscillation drum version, it said, where the lower noise of oscillation is combined with the quiet electric drive, making the machines suited for use in vibration-sensitive and noise-sensitive environments.
The new rollers also offer maintenance benefits, with the electrical components of the high-voltage system having long maintenance intervals. As with the diesel-powered machines, the new models can be connected to the John Deere Operations Center.
