GAP Group has ordered 80 of the new KX080-4 midi-excavators.

Rental company GAP Group has signed a deal with Kubota that will give it exclusive rights in the UK this year for the new 8 tonne KX080-4 midi-excavator, Kubota’s first Stage IIIB excavator. GAP has placed an initial order for 80 units.

GAP said it was committed to offering customers the most innovative and ‘green’ products available. The KX080-4 – launched at the Bauma show – offers an up to 18% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor. The excavator uses a Kubota direct injection diesel engine with Common Rail System (CRS) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Ken Stewart, GAP’s procurement manager, said the company was delighted to have secured UK exclusivity on the machine; “The new excavator is more powerful than its predecessor yet is more fuel efficient, quieter and helps support the environment.

“One of the main selling points is the engine being Stage IIIB compliant. Our depots will receive these machines from April onwards, which will increase our 8.0 t excavator holding to over 360 machines. This reinforces our long term and successful partnership with Kubota”.

GAP said it was also add new Stage IIIB Terex dumpers in the 6 t and 10 t sizes. “GAP will be the first of Terex’s customers to have the opportunity to evaluate the 6T and 10T prototypes at one of its depots in the coming months”, it said.
