By Belinda Smart08 February 2022

UK company GAP Hire Solutions has opened a Pump Services specialty division with an £18 million investment in Stage V pumps and related equipment, and key staff appointments. It is the company’s eleventh specialty rental division.

GAP Pump Services’ fleet comprises Stage V pumps from suppliers including Atlas Copco, DXB pumps and Active Engineering.

GAP Pump Services will ultimately have 15 locations across the UK, but will initially operate from three sites within the GAP’s Non-Mechanical and Welfare Services depots in Tilbury (Essex), Derby (Derbyshire) and Tewkesbury (Gloucestershire).

Depots at Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk), Harthill (Scotland) and Warrington (Cheshire) will open in the coming months, with plans to open further facilities in the near future.

GAP’s investment in the division includes a fleet of Stage V pumps from suppliers including Atlas Copco, DXB pumps and Active Engineering, in sizes from 2” to 12”.

The pumps have been colour coordinated for different uses including drainage, sewage and hydraulics. New delivery vehicles have also been purchased.

The company has also appointed Richard Broughton as Head of Pump Services, leading a team of newly appointed pump specialists. Broughton was previously National Contracts Manager for UK HVAC specialist Carrier Rental Systems.

Mark Anderson, Managing Director North at GAP, said; “GAP has already been heavily involved in the water and utilities industry over the years, so the establishment of this new specialist Pumps division will help to cater to our customers’ needs even further.

“Our pumps are the most efficient, modern models currently on the market and are fitted with telematics systems to ensure complete control for the user.

“Pump Services also offers silt sifter solutions and chemical dosing equipment as well as ancillaries, such as road crossing pipes and pedestrian ramps.”

Pump Services is GAP Group’s eleventh specialty division, adding to Plant Hire, Tool Hire, Lifting & TIC, Non-Mechanical, Trenching & Shoring, Survey & Safety Hire, Welfare Services, Tanker Services, Event Services and Vehicle Hire.

Additional services in GAP’s specialty rental division include Test, Inspect and Certify (TIC), which offers testing and inspection of lifting equipment to ensure compliance and safety, and bespoke services for individual customers’ needs.
