Develon introduces updated DX35Z-7 mini excavator

Develon has introduced an updated version of the DX35Z-7 four-tonne mini excavator. Key changes include the replacement of the former D17 engine with the DW01.

Designed specifically for compact machinery, the DW01 is a 1.9-liter three-cylinder naturally-aspirated diesel engine which has an output of 18 kW (25 hp) at 2,150 rpm. The engine uses a semi-electronic system, essentially a hybrid mechanical/electronic control setup which allows mechanical components to be managed by related sensors.

The engine is both Tier 4 Final and Stage 5 emissions compliant without the use of DPF or SCR systems. It does use a diesel oxidation catalyst and exhaust gas recirculation. Also, the DW01 is fully HVO compliant.

Looking at functionality, the position of the boom swing point has been moved 75 mm to the right. In combination with the 60-degree boom swing angle (left and right), this serves to increase operator visibility from the cab.

Additionally, changes to the radio position and an increase in the wiper blade angle (from 60 to 89 degrees) further enhances visibility.

To improve control, boom swing operation has been moved from the pedal to the joystick thumbwheel.

Hydraulic fluid flow has been increased to 74 liters/min to support better power delivery for attachments, while a 100 kg counterweight provides additional stability.

The new DX35Z-7 also features improved ease of maintenance. This includes a retractable cover for the hydraulic oil filling point and a new battery jump start feature.

The intake system now incorporates a two-stage air filter (inner and outer) which has a new clip system to make it easier to change the unit. A new monitoring system notifies when the filter requires changing.

A telematics systems can send sensor data collected from the DX35Z-7 to the Develon Fleet Management System for analysis, which can support real-time preventative maintenance.
