Cummins launches compact 8-28 kVA gensets
27 November 2009
The line includes 8 - 11 kVA models powered by Cummins' X 1.3 engine and 17 - 28 kVA units using the X 2.5 engine. The new sets are part of a range that includes the X 3.3 models rated 30 to 38 kVA (at 50 Hz).
The gensets have dimensions of 1460 x 1130 x 850 mm, which "enables double stacking in the container that saves 50% on transport costs", said Cummins.
Other rental-friendly features include in-built fuel tanks that provide sufficient capacity for more than 30 hours running at 75% load, and an extended oil change period of 500 hours. The enclosures have convenient access doors to the engine and alternator service points, and forklift pockets on the skid base and in-built single-point lifting brackets make it easy to lift and position the generators on site.
Noise emissions have been limited to 69 dB(A), which Cummins said is "best in class", and the sets also meet EU engine emission limts.
Steve Juden, executive product manager, said, "Our advanced products have established the benchmark in cost-effective, efficient power generation and this range of smaller generators is set to do the same. We believe this new line with its unique features and benefits will take leadership in the global generator market."
The new sets also use the Cummins PowerStart 500 controller as standard, with the more sophisticated PowerCommand 1.1 digital controller available as an option.
