28 November 2011

Dubai-based Byrne Equipment Rental has extended its UAE partnership with portable accommodation specialist Algeco to include Qatar.

The extension of the agreement follows the successful partnership between the two companies in the UAE territory. Byrne said recently it had doubled its first year target for the joint venture in UAE.

As In the UAE, Byrne will rent Algeco's 4000KD and Batex accommodation products in Qatar.

Jim Muldoon, general manager of Algeco in the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, said: "We have had a significantly successful first year working with Byrne in the UAE and due to this we took the decision to expand our operations to include Qatar. We have already seen interest in our products in Qatar and therefore it made strategic sense to have a permanent base there."

The new facility is located in Doha and already has units available for rent.

Graeme Clack, Byrne' CEO, said, "Our experience with Algeco in the UAE has been excellent, consequently bringing their product to the Qatar market was a logical next step.

There are no comparable products in Qatar in terms of quality or flexibility and we expect, with Algeco, to be able to provide first class building rental solutions to the Qatar market."

The companies said they were already in discussions regarding cooperation in other GCC countries. Byrne already has offices in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The two Algeco products being supplied by Byrne are designed for both rental and sale. The 4000KD is used to build complex, multi-purpose structures up to two stories in height, while the Batex is a flat-pack panel that can be easily assembled and re-assembled.
