UK-based rental company Banner Plant has expanded its access equipment fleet with the addition of four bi-energy Snorkel scissors lifts.

The company, which is based in Dronfield, near the city of Sheffield, added two Snorkel S3370BE and two S3970BE rough terrain machines. Both models are equipped with a Kubota D-902 water cooled diesel engine and a DC battery for zero-emission electric operation.

According to Snorkel, operators can easily switch between the two power sources and use the diesel engine for outdoor activities, and the electric system for indoor or outdoor applications that require quiet and low emission operation.

Phil James, Banner Plant’s depot manager, said, “The bi-energy power solution from Snorkel is a great option as it can be used in many more applications than a standard diesel compact rough terrain scissor lift, ultimately increasing utilization opportunities.”

“This can either mean that a construction customer may keep the lift on hire for longer, using it on the jobsite from start to finish – on outdoors tasks initially, and then indoors for the final fit-out stages, or it could mean that we benefit from additional hire possibilities, such as in sensitive environments or low emission zones where the use of a combustion engine may be prohibited.”

While the S3370BE offers a working height of 12m and is equipped with a 450kg platform, the S3970BE has a working height of 13.8m and a maximum capacity of 350kg.

Equipped with four automatically levelling hydraulic outriggers, both scissor lifts measure 1.8m wide and come with a 1.2m roll-out deck extension.
