Aggreko adds US switchgear specialist

Aggreko has completed the acquisition of A Contact Electric Rentals, a Houston, USA-based company that rents medium and high voltage electrical distribution and transformer equipment. The price was not disclosed.

A Contact serves industries including utilities, petrochemical/refining and oil and gas. It rents I-line panels, specialised medium and high voltage gear, switches, starters, transformers and variable frequency drives.

“This powerful combination will allow us to provide an unparalleled range of turnkey electrical services to address our customers’ power generation needs, and capture a greater portion of market share in the industries we serve.”

A Contact’s founder and CEO, Clay Jones, will leave the business to focus on developing a real estate business, while its President, Hans Schellstede, is remaining with the business and joining Aggreko.

Schellstede said; “We are excited to join the Aggreko organisation and provide our customers with an integrated platform for expanded rental power solutions in North America and other global regions served by Aggreko.”

Aggreko said A Contact has the largest electrical equipment inventory for rent and sale in North America and has forged strategic relationships with several electrical equipment manufacturers.
