UK access rental company AFI-Uplift is investing more than £5 million in new platforms, adding 500 new machines and expanding the fleet by over 400 units. AFI's total fleet size is now more than 3300 units.

AFI said a "significant part" of the order was for low level platforms and electric scissors, including Power Tower and Bravi Lite push around verticals; Youngman BoSS X3s push around scissors; Haulotte Star 10 self-propelled vertical mast units; and a wide range of Genie and Skyjack scissors.

The order also includes more narrow scissors, including Haulotte's Compact 14 and Holland Lift Combistar models. It had added four Holland-lift Combistar N-165EL-12 units and two N-195EL-12s, bringing AFI's Holland Lift narrow scissor fleet to over 35 machines.

AFI director Graham Osmond said; "Even before this latest investment the AFI fleet had a current average machine age of only approx five years, which is significantly younger than many of its competitors."

AFI is the second largest aerial platform rental company in the UK, after Lavendon, and one of the largest in Europe.
