A new chapter for the European Rental Association

The European Rental Association (ERA) is preparing for a significant leadership change this summer. After nearly two decades of service, Secretary General Michel Petitjean will step down at the end of June 2025.

Michel has been a driving force behind ERA since its creation in 2006. His leadership, energy, and dedication have helped shape ERA into the respected organisation it is today, supporting the growth and professionalisation of the rental industry across Europe.

Taking over the role is Carole Bachmann, who has been closely involved with ERA’s work since 2013. Carole brings deep industry experience from her previous roles at Loxam and Wynne Systems and has worked alongside Michel for many years. She will officially begin as Secretary General on 1 July 2025.

Stéphane Henon, ERA President and Managing Director of Loxam, expressed his appreciation for Michel’s contribution and full confidence in Carole’s appointment:

“After 19 years of relentless work and tremendous commitment to make our European Rental Association one of the leading worldwide organisations in our industry, Michel will step down following our Convention in Dublin. Carole, who has collaborated intensively with Michel, is ideally placed to take the association forward,” he said.

The leadership transition will be formally announced at the upcoming ERA Convention in Dublin on 4-5 June 2025, where members and partners will also have the chance to celebrate Michel’s incredible impact.

As ERA looks ahead, the association remains committed to its mission: promoting the rental industry, supporting its members, and driving positive change across Europe. With a strong foundation laid by Michel and a clear path forward under Carole’s leadership, ERA is ready for the next chapter.
