Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) has made its Load Assist machine control system standard for many of its wheeled loaders in Europe.

The manufacturer said its Co-Pilot, through which Load Assist is accessed, will be included in all its wheeled loader machines ranging from the L120H to the L260H models.

Load Assist comprises a number of applications specific to Volvo CE’s wheeled loaders that are said to enhance productivity by providing real-time machine data to the operator.

Operators will now have use of Load Assist’s Tool Box, Rear-View Camera and Operator Coaching applications.

In addition, the region-wide standardisation will also see the hardware for Volvo CE’s On-Board Weighing application come factory installed, as it cannot be retrofitted.

Volvo CE said the accuracy of the system is dependent on the precise positioning and calibration of its cable harness and pressure sensors.

The software for the On-Board Weighing application, which prevents overloading, manages productivity and limits machine wear and fuel consumption, will be available for customers to purchase separately.

Despite the expansive roll-out of the technology, the Load Assist applications and Co-Pilot and On-Board Weighing hardware will not be available on Volvo CE’s L110H model, although it will remain an optional feature for the time being.
