JCB to unveil new micro excavator at Executive Hire Show

British heavy machinery manufacturer JCB will debut its latest electric micro excavator, the 8008E CTS, at the upcoming Executive Hire Show 2025, which will take place at the CBS Arena in Coventry, the United Kingdom, on February 12–13.

This new model joins the JCB E-TECH range of zero-emission products, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation.

The 1.0-tonne electric excavator shares its structure, bodywork, and dig-end with the diesel-powered 8008 CTS and retains the same intuitive control lever functionality. However, it features an electric motor-powered hydraulic pump, utilizing JCB’s proven battery and powertrain technology.

Key features of the 8008E CTS include:

  • 9.9kWh battery: Provides power for a full day’s typical shift.
  • Sub-1.0 tonne weight: Lightweight and easily transportable behind a van or pick-up.
  • Versatile charging options: Compatible with 110V and 230V construction site power supplies.

The electric model also offers reduced noise levels, with just 66dB(A) at the operator station and 80dB(A) externally, making it ideal for indoor or urban projects. Despite its electric motor, the machine matches the diesel model’s performance, delivering a maximum bucket tear-out force of 9.3kN and a dipper tear-out force of 4.6kN.

JCB’s stand at the event will also showcase other sustainable solutions for the rental industry, including:

The Executive Hire Show is an annual trade-only event brings together suppliers and hirers from the UK and Ireland’s tools, plant, and equipment hire industries.
