Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA has updated its ViO17 zero tail swing mini-excavator.

Described as versatile, robust and reliable, the next-generation model is designed for general construction and civil engineering applications.

It is powered by a Stage V-compliant diesel engine from Yanmar’s TNV series, that offers both low fuel consumption and “minimal emissions”, and has a maximum digging depth of up to 2310mm.

As well as offering two travel speeds (2.1 or 4.3km/h), the ViO17 also features a variable undercarriage with widths ranging from 955m to 1,280mm (0.95m to1.2m), for increased stability onsite.

According to this manufacturer, this means the mini-excavator is “perfect for grading, landscaping or urban renewals”.

“The upper frame of the ViO17 slews within its track width, making it the perfect choice for tight job sites,” said Yanmar.

“Operators also benefit from a very short turning radius at both the front and rear, which further improves both efficiency and productivity.”

Alongside an optional long digging arm, operators can also specify an additional 83kg counterweight” to further increase flexibility, the company said.

The model has a transport weight of just 1.7 tonnes (1,695kg) and is equipped with four tie-down points on its track frames, allowing it to be easily towed on a standard trailer.

While access to its major engine components is via the machine’s hood and removable side panels, Yanmar has located the battery and fuse boxes in a lockable compartment beneath the operator seat for added security.

Inside, the cab of Vi07 features an ergonomically positioned joysticks and a fully adjustable suspension seat, and is also available with larger travel pedals as an optional extra.

According to the manufacturer, other optional extras and factory-fitted attachments for the model include hydraulic quick couplers, digging buckets, ditch cleaning buckets, rippers and breakers.
