UK Construction minister visits local Hewden depot

28 April 2010

UK construction minister Ian Lucas visited his local Hewden rental depot recently to meet two “future faces” of the company and learn how their role is helping local and national construction projects. The two new National Account Sales Executives (NASEs), Chris Blake and Dawn Spencer, introduced Mr Lucas, who is Labour MP for Wrexham, Wales, to his local Hewden team and spoke to him about the encouraging signs of recovery in the region and across the sector. Following the visit Mr Lucas said, “We appreciate Hewden’s investment because we need to bring more young talent into construction. Even after the most difficult couple of years there’s still a huge amount of impressive new builds going on and that’s fantastic to see. “The construction industry has a lot to offer young people in the current climate.” Hewden’s head of customer relations Brian Jones said, “Despite the tough operating climate and at a time when the construction industry continues to feel the effects of the economic downturn, we have continued to invest by bringing young people in to our business. “These new recruits have brought with them some really fresh ideas and this meeting gave us an ideal opportunity to share our knowledge with the minister.”
