Hinowa Light Lift 19.65 Lithium Ion IIIS

07 July 2010

Hinowa, the Italy-based access equipment manufacturer, has launched its second lithium-ion battery powered aerial lift, the Light Lift 19.65 Lithium IIIS. The patented lift, which carries a 15-20% price premium, uses a 15 cell battery co-developed with Italian battery manufacturer FAMM. This, according to a Hinowa spokesman, will “offer enormous benefits over both traditional lead acid batteries and diesel powered units.” The 48 V/2 kW Li-Ion battery pack provides four hours of continuous working, “more than enough for a normal day's work”, added the spokesman. The battery weights a third of the weight of traditional batteries, will last for 8000 hours, which is three times longer than lead acid alternatives, according to Hinowa, and takes just two hours to reach an 80% charge (or four hours for a full charge). Hinowa estimates the daily cost of charging the machine will be around € 0,70 compared to the € 8 to 10,00 daily running cost of “normal” diesel Spider lift unit. An on-board charger allows the batteries to be recharged while the lift is working. The low weight of the battery adds just 20 kg to the overall weight of the machine.
