Thwaites adds distributors in the UK

Thwaites has expanded its distributor network in the UK with the appointment of Fitzgerald Plant Services of Cwmbran, South Wales and Carmarthenshire-based Tegfan Plant & Machinery.

Fitzgerald Plant, founded in 2007 by Liza and Chris Fitzgerald, will cover Southeast Wales and North Wales, while Tegfan has the territory of Southwest and Mid-Wales. Tegfan was founded by managing director John Dunn 21 years ago,

Fitgerald Plant operates from four sites and employs more than 100 people. It sells machines into rail, construction, forestry, recycling and quarrying sectors and is adding Thwaites to its existing distributorships of Sany Excavators, OKB Attachments and TAFE Tractors.

Fitzgerald sales director Simon Richards said, “Having become established as a Sany distributor, we are keen to develop our distributorship portfolio by offering customers more choice and convenience. A dumper and excavator combination not only improves our offer but reduces our customers transaction cost…We can’t wait to get started.”

Tegfan Plant has existing distributor arrangements with Kubota, Merlo, Auger Torque and Indespension. For John Dunn, the agreement with Thwaites will rekindle a connection to the company from 35 years ago, when as a young apprentice mechanic with Parker Plant Hire he learned his trade working on Thwaites dumpers.

“The opportunity to become an approved distributor for Thwaites is something I have wanted for the business for some time”, said Dunn, “Kubota excavators and Thwaites dumpers offer us a natural, non-competing product range. Two strong brands that will work well to add value for our customers and our business.”
