JE Dunn Construction used Toro® electric compact equipment to reduce noise, fumes, and manual labour during a complex state office renovation project.

Toro® is a global manufacturer of equipment for turf care, landscaping, construction, and rental markets. Operating in over 125 countries, Toro delivers professional-grade solutions designed to boost productivity, lower emissions, and meet the toughest jobsite demands.
That reputation for innovation made Toro the ideal partner for JE Dunn Construction, one of the largest general contractors in the United States. Tasked with demolishing 4,645 m² (50,000 sq ft) inside a state government office building, JE Dunn needed to work safely and efficiently — all while keeping noise and emissions to a minimum in the enclosed environment.
The answer? Toro’s electric compact equipment.
JE Dunn deployed two battery-powered machines: the eDingo® TX 750 compact utility loader and the Ultra Buggy® e2500-THL, a tracked high-lift material buggy. Both are powered by Toro’s HyperCell™ Power System, delivering up to eight hours of runtime with zero engine exhaust and minimal operating noise.

“These machines gave us a real advantage,” says Adam Maxfield, project engineer at JE Dunn. “This type of project really showcases how electric equipment can make demolition safer, cleaner, and more efficient.”
Thanks to a compact 800 mm (31.5 in) width, both machines could easily access tight areas and move through standard doorways. For example, the JE Dunn team used the eDingo with a scraper attachment to remove thousands of glued-down carpet tiles. A task that previously took multiple workers several days was completed in under an hour by a single operator.
Meanwhile, the Ultra Buggy allowed crews to transport large volumes of material with ease. With a steel tub capacity of 1,134 kg (2,500 lbs) and a dump height of 1.93 m (76 in), the machine cleanly tipped debris into a 30-yard skip — eliminating countless trips with wheelbarrows and reducing manual lifting.

Both machines featured intuitive controls, making it easy for operators unfamiliar with the models to get up and running quickly. With fewer physical demands on staff, crew safety was improved while allowing more people to focus on priority tasks elsewhere.
“The feedback from JE Dunn was invaluable,” adds Kaitlyn Ingli, Product Marketing Manager at The Toro Company. “This was more than a product demo — it was a real-world test that confirmed durability, runtime, and manoeuvrability in tough jobsite conditions.”
The result? A smarter, cleaner demolition. Operators were able to work indoors without emissions, reduce strain on their bodies, and maintain productivity with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
“For contractors worldwide, Toro’s electric range offers the power needed for demanding tasks — without compromising on safety or sustainability,” Ingli concludes.
Indoor demolition doesn’t need to mean noise, fumes, or fatigue. Find out how Toro’s battery-powered eDingo® and Ultra Buggy® are changing the game for safer, cleaner, more efficient worksites.
