Youngman Group creates events division

The division will target sporting and media events, outdoor concerts, exhibitions and product launches with its own products as well as those of US company Staging Concepts, with whom it signed a distribution agreement earlier this year. Staging makes modular support systems for seating as well as stages and platforms.

Head of business development at the new division is Jason Carlton, who joined Youngman in October 2008 and who has a background in rigging and lighting. "We are not simply modifying scaffolding equipment, but are focused on providing bespoke products for technically demanding clients", he said.

"At the same time we aim to provide the best possible after-sales service. The Youngman Group already has a reputation for quality and customer service within the construction industry and our aim now, is to repeat this in the events sector".

Youngman aims to develop a small network of distributors; "We have already signed our first two major UK distributors. Both are well established businesses...Our products and their service will ensure we get the Youngman Events Division off to a flying start", said Mr Carlton. "The events sector is a growing market, and Youngman is committed to working closely with our key distributors and developing new products to sell into this sector".

The current product range encompasses two-chord unit beams, an aluminium crowd-control barrier with accessories, and a modular staging system that is ideal for event, conference media and exhibition use. "We will also be launching a new camera and lighting tower in August," said Mr Carlton.
