Yanmar names new division CEO
15 July 2022
Japan-based Yanmar Group has appointed Peter Aarsen as its new CEO of the Yanmar Energy System International (YES) business - the parent company of Spanish generator manufacturer Himoinsa and Germany-based combined heat and power generator specialist RMB Energie.
A long-time senior executive with 15 years of experience at the company, Aarsen has held several leadership positions over the years.
These included that of President at Yanmar Marine and, most recently, President of Yanmar Europe, where he became increasingly involved with the manufacturer’s Energy Systems business.
Yanmar said, “His broad technical knowledge and understanding of the rapidly changing energy market led to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Yanmar Energy System International by Group Management in Japan.”
According to the manufacturer, Aarsen is the second non-Japanese executive to lead one of its global businesses, which it said reflects “the confidence bestowed upon him.”
Aarsen’s predecessor Tetsuya Yamamoto, who himself has now been promoted to the Chief Operating Officer and representative Director position at Yanmar Holdings, said, “In the last few years, he has become increasingly involved in Energy Systems which has benefited from his extensive technical knowledge and experience. As a result, we are convinced that he will play a strategic role in YES International.”
Having officially taken up the role on 1 July of this year, Aarsen recently visited the headquarters of subsidiary firm Himoinsa in Spain.
Accompanied by an executive team and Yamamoto, Aarsen met with Himoinsa’s leadership team to review its “strategic plan as well as its industrial capacity and business model”.
Francisco Gracia, President and CEO of Himoinsa, said, “We would like to thank Mr. Yamamoto for all this efforts and hard work during his four years as President and CEO of Energy Systems.
“We would also like to welcome Peter Aarsen: with him at the helm, we are quite convinced that we will be able to continue to position HIMOINSA as one of the fastest growing companies in the Yanmar Energy System division.”
Speaking about his role in relation to Himoinsa, Aarsen said, “I am very positive to be part of the exciting future of Himoinsa with it’s ambitions focus on new product and technology developments and promising market growth opportunities.”
As Aarsen steps into his new role, his previous position as the President of Yanmar Europe will be taken up by Samir Laoukili.
A member of the Yanmar Europe’s board of directors, Laoukili has served with the company for almost ten years, during which time he held numerous positions including that of Chief Finance Officer.
