Xtellio delivers telematics ‘across full jobsite’

Data specialist Xtellio is announcing a data infrastructure platform that now gives companies a unified solution for collecting and delivering data across jobsite environments.

The solution will debut at the American Rental Association (ARA) trade show, 2-5, in Orlando and at ConExpo 4-7 March, and brings together ruggedized sensor devices and wired Pro-Xentral devices into a modular, scalable foundation.

Together, these technologies are designed to provide reliable visibility to rental and construction companies across fleets, machines and jobsites, allowing customers to direct the data wherever they decide it will deliver the most value for their own purposes.

“Telematics originally gained traction in the construction industry in the early 2000s, focusing mainly on heavy equipment,” said Tom Valbak Aardestrup, CEO, Xtellio. “Today, we are pleased to offer a platform solution that moves that model forward, extending visibility across the jobsite environment and advancing data liberation through customer ownership and flexibility.”

Xtellio’s product portfolio is made up of over 32 rugged, plug-and-play, battery-powered Bluetooth sensors, called Xenses. These compact devices can be easily mounted on smaller fleet assets and non-powered tools to capture data, transmitting it to Xtellio’s cloud platform via the Xtellio gateways called Xentrals.

Capturing and forwarding data 

Complementing the Xenses line is now also the Xtellio’s Pro-Xentral series (Standard, CANbus and recently announced Heat IQ), a range of wired telematics devices that connect directly to powered equipment, such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, boom lifts, light towers, industrial heaters, and more. They collect data, such as engine hours, diagnostics and status data for analysis and management. Designed for fast deployment, the platform supports easy installation across both wired and wireless equipment categories.

While traditional telematics companies might track and monitor the engine diagnostics of excavators and skid steers, for example, Xtellio captures and forwards data from mixed fleets of large equipment, wired equipment, smaller assets and tools such as auxiliary systems and industrial heaters but with broader data insights than a mere identifier, said the company.

Delivering data through open Application Program Interfaces (APIs), the platform seamlessly connects to the customers’ existing business systems, ensuring they retain full ownership and control of their own data, a concept the company calls ‘data liberation.’

“Organizations of any size who control their own data by structuring it across every asset category will be the ones that move faster, and operate with more efficiency,” said Valbak. “Our customers can easily build their own solutions, front ends and dashboards so they have full control. With AI changing the software space dramatically, it all boils down to the data. We see the Xtellio platform as the place from where the data will originate.”
